REDUCED HYPERACTIVITY

Reduced hyperactivity and inattention is the antidote to an increasingly hectic, always ‘on’ digital world.

Drumming is like the opposite of scrolling through your phone ;)

Years of training our brains to need constant stimulating, new videos, images, memes, laughs and cry’s… (wow that’s exhausting just to read) what about something that can help train the brain into focusing, having greater concentration and attention - drumming!

A fascinating study from Kings College, London with autistic adolescents, provides evidence that drumming can have positive effects on the brain - yes please, let’s prescribe that to accounting, strategy and some members of the sales team ;)

However the affects of neuronal activity and the ability to help focus brain activiy can be beneficial for all.

“Our study provides strong evidence that drumming not only reduces hyperactivity and inattention in autistic adolescents but also strengthens functional connectivity in brain regions responsible for inhibitory control and action outcome monitoring.”

Study Title: The effect of learning to drum on behaviour and brain function in autistic adolescents

"Results showed that improvements in drumming performance were associated with a significant reduction in hyperactivity and inattention difficulties in drummers compared to controls."
